The Atlanta Lions Club would like to thank our Guest Speaker Ms. Felicia A. Moore The President of The Atlanta City Council for coming and speaking to the club on Thursday. Ms. Moore spoke to the club about the current state of affairs in the city and how she plans on bettering our city. One topic she discussed is the upcoming Land Development and Building Permit Forum taking place on November 1st at the Old Council Chambers located at 68 Mitchell St SW Atlanta, GA 30303. Some other topics she discussed were the plans for the Atlanta Airport. There are talks about how the city may help the airport become more efficient and help with the traffic around the Airport. Other topics discussed were the upcoming social events the club plans on hosting. Check out our Calendar for any upcoming social events that will be open to members and potential members alike. If you would like to come out and speak to our club or visit the club for possible membership please reach out to us via the contact page on this site. We would love to have anyone come out and see the exciting things we have planned for this year and next.

Lions Show up: 3rd Annual Community Clean Up Event

October 20th 2018

The Atlanta Lions club would like to celebrate and thank everyone who showed up to our 3rd annual Young Generation Movement and Anthem Community Clean Up event this past Saturday. We were able to break ground on the YGM Community Center by cleaning up the property located in East Atlanta.

Along with cleaning up the property we were able to build four large raised vegetable gardens which will be expanded over time to provide the community with a place to come and grow not just vegetables but relationships. The YGM kids were in attendance and were able to learn about how to grow vegetables and the importance of community outreach. Along with the garden the trees that are located on the property were painted and landscaped.  A space was cleared for a future basketball court and an area for a safe place for the kids to socialize and study. Julious George the President of the Young Generation Movement was able to give out awards to the sponsors of the event including The Atlanta Lions Club and in particular the President Scott Rogers. Check out the YG Movements websites for further details about the organization. Around 80 people were in attendance at the event. Despite the rain the event was a great success. We would like to give a special thanks to St Stephens Overcoming Church for allowing us to use the Church as a home base for parking and Lunch. We would also like to thank all of the people from Anthem who came out despite the weather to get this important project completed.
