Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues:
As you might know, the Atlanta Lions Club was one of 3 clubs that started the Lighthouse over 60 years ago! The Lighthouse’s annual White Cane campaign raises money for its eye surgery program, which provides over 350 surgeries every year to low-income Georgians, such as Vernie.
Soon after Vernie retired last year, her husband passed away from colon cancer. Though she’d hoped to live on her husband’s savings, a cataract has developed in her left eye, which has made it impossible for her to play the piano, read, or drive to visit her grandchildren across town. Uninsured and still a year away from receiving social security, Vernie cannot afford the surgery she needs to prevent herself from going blind. She is scheduled to receive surgery through the Lighthouse soon, but she needs your help.
Please donate today to help the Atlanta Lions Club reach its fundraising goal of [$50,000, the cost of 33 surgeries]. Your donations to the Lighthouse Foundation will help Georgians like Vernie see more clearly and live fuller, more independent lives.
Please know that we are extremely grateful for anything you can or are willing to do. No amount is too small or too large.
Thank you sincerely for your support!
