ALC Meeting – July 9th, 2020

The Atlanta Lions club would like to thank all the members and guests who were able to join our zoom Meeting yesterday we had a great turn out. As we try to navigate the turbulent waters of the current health crisis the Atlanta Lions Club continues to meet regularly via Zoom. If anyone would like to come and participate in one of our two meetings each month, please visit our contact page and reach out to one of our members and we will get back to you with information on attending. Recently the club has participated in many relief efforts for those in need during the pandemic and will continue to find ways of helping everyone who is affect by this crisis.

Thursday’s meeting began by introducing one of our Members Judge Shondeana C. Morris so members and guests could ask her questions about herself and her time as an attorney and Judge. She discussed some of the difficulties the courts are currently facing during the covid-19 Pandemic. Judge Morris Also spoke about her time as a Judge and some of the interesting cases she has presided over. As always, we thank Judge Morris for speaking with the club and we are proud to have her as a member of the Atlanta Lions Club. President Scott Rogers and 2nd vice president Becky Jarrell lead a discussion based on a recent survey sent to members on what initiatives and future projects they would like the Club to pursue this year. There was a strong consensus that the Youth Exchange program should be a priority for the summer of 2021 if travel and safety restrictions due to covid-19 have been lifted. The club plans on increasing fundraising and membership this year and encourages members to put forth any plans or ideas that might achieve this goal.

To Conclude, The ALC would like to thank our members for taking part in the many projects and initiatives we have done this year. The ALC is celebrating our clubs 100 years in the city and would like to invite members and guest to our Centennial Celebration the Gala will be held at the Capital City Club in Downtown Atlanta on Saturday December 12th, 2020. ALC Meeting February 27, 2020 – Speaker Tara Heaton

“Demystifying Your Audience: From One to Thousands”
Tara Heaton, founder of En Pointe Communications, was our special guest speaker at the Feb. 27 Atlanta Lions Club meeting. With years of neuroscience research and success in competitive sales as a foundation, Tara discussed how to employ science, art and sport to close sales, open minds and generate action.
In 2005, sales trainer Tara Heaton’s daughter was struck with a traumatic brain injury that has been exacerbated ever since with epileptic seizures. In the process of working with doctors to heal her child, she became a student of the human brain. She has devoted many hours to researching human behavior, as well as learning how our brain structure and chemistry determine our every choice. With her presentation and her ebook, Tara Heaton teaches audiences how to demystify the human brain and thus to communicate more effectively with audiences—from one person to thousands.
